Founded in 1996, SAS emerged from community engagement projects and a commitment to fostering cultural interactions and exchanges through the arts with Cuban artists. Our mission is inspired by the hope for strengthen connections across political, social and intercultural constraints through artistic work, reflective dialogue and advocacy at a grassroots level. We have worked passionately to offer rich cultural exchanges with communities.

In 2022, we plan to continue to collaborate with innovative, socially-conscious artists and organizations.  Visit our shops to view and purchase artists' pieces. WHAT WE DO

Utilizing the universal language of artistic expression, we act in resistance to prejudicial barriers. We aim to preserve and promote critical cultural dialogue through the arts. Honoring the universal spirit of life, we are committed to supporting and strengthening vibrant local and international communities.  We have developed performances, educational outreach, workshops and artist residencies that leveraged cultural knowledge of artists to facilitate human consciousness. Currently we are transitioning to online work and collaborations with artists.

Regino, one of the foremost authorities on Afro-Cuban drumming, particularly the batá drums, former drummer with the legendary Jesus Pérez, member of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba for over forty years, and Musical Director of Danza Contemporánea de Cuba for over thirty years. Sadly Regino passed away in 2005.
